You were not designed to sprint forever
You were not designed
to sprint forever.
And we know this instinctively.
If someone said
their strategy for running a marathon
was to sprint all 26 miles
we would laugh.
Because we know what would happen.
They would burn out.
Blow up.
Most likely not even finish.
Yet this is how
so many people live.
Full speed.
All the time.
No margin.
No recovery.
No renewal.
And eventually
it catches up to you.
Your life is a long journey.
Yes
there will be seasons of sprinting.
But sustainable living
requires rhythm.
Rest.
Renewal.
Peace.
Joy.
Those are not luxuries.
They are necessities.
And they should actually be goals
for your life.
God modeled this.
He did not need rest.
But He chose to rest.
Jesus modeled this too.
In the middle of ministry
He would often pull away
to pray
to be quiet
to connect with the Father.
If Jesus needed this rhythm
so do we.
Now intellectually
most of us know this.
But practically
we struggle with it.
Because somewhere along the way
we started believing
rest is laziness
slowing down is weakness
and doing things for me feels selfish.
But that is not true.
Rest is stewardship.
Renewal is wisdom.
And taking time for ourselves is necessary.
One of the biggest shifts for me
was learning how to rest
even while working.
Not living anxious.
Not carrying outcomes.
Not running scared.
Working hard
while trusting God.
Doing my best
while releasing control.
That changes everything.
Because when you believe
God is responsible for outcomes
your nervous system can finally breathe.
And when you create rhythms
that restore your soul
you stop surviving
and start becoming alive again.
Peace and joy
should not be rare moments.
They should be your normal.
This Week’s Challenge
Ask yourself this question.
Am I living at a sustainable pace
Or am I sprinting through life
hoping I can keep this up forever
Pay attention to what restores you.
The things that bring peace.
Joy.
Life.
Margin.
Not because you are lazy.
Because you are human.
And humans need renewal.
