Who Calls You Up and Out?
We all need others.
But not just anyone.
We need people who call us up
and call us out.
People who call you up
are the ones who believe in you.
They see the best in you
even when you do not see it yourself.
Sometimes that comes from watching their life.
You see how they live.
How they lead.
How they carry themselves.
And it pulls you higher.
Other times they say it out loud.
"I believe in you."
"There is more in you."
"You can do this."
Most people are under encouraged.
And it is amazing how far belief can take someone.
I see this all the time coaching youth sports.
We play to win.
We have a lot of fun.
And the reason is simple.
Every kid feels believed in.
When a young man knows someone believes in him
it changes how he plays.
How he works.
How he shows up.
Sometimes you need to borrow someone else’s belief
until it becomes real to you.
But the same people who call you up
also need to call you out.
And that part is not as fun.
People who love you will tell you the truth.
Not to shame you.
Not to beat you down.
But because they care.
They tell you when you are missing the mark.
When you are not living up to the standard
you said you wanted for your life.
We all have blind spots.
Every one of us.
And when you realize that
you stop trying to do life alone.
You start appreciating the people
who help round you out.
The people who call you up
and call you out.
This Week’s Challenge
Take inventory of your relationships.
Who in your life calls you up
and calls you out?
If you do not have someone like that
start looking for them.
And if you do
thank them.
And listen.
Now let’s go win the week!
