How to Rest While You Work
I like working.
Grit.
Determination.
Hard work.
Developing yourself.
That is how I built a successful career.
But if I am honest
I was scared almost all the time.
Fear of lack.
Fear of not having enough.
Fear of losing what I had gained.
The results were good.
Growth.
Provision.
Opportunity for my family.
But the fuel source was wrong.
I was working hard
but I was running scared.
And I realized something.
Hard work is not the problem.
Fear driven fuel is.
There is a difference
between grit
and what fuels your grit.
My fuel used to be
I have to provide.
There is not enough.
It is all on me.
But the shift was this.
God, You are my source.
I will still work hard.
I will still show up.
I will still bring excellence.
But now
my work becomes worship.
Not survival.
And when that shift happens
something changes.
Peace.
Joy.
Freedom.
Not just for me
but for the people around me.
This is not a one time fix.
There are levels to it.
There are seasons
where fear tries to creep back in.
There are moments
where what you know in your head
does not match what you feel in your body.
You know God is faithful.
You believe Scripture is true.
You can quote the right answer.
But your nervous system is still on edge.
That is where reps matter.
That is where character forms.
My Journey
I have walked through multiple transitions.
Each time
I felt the nudge from the Lord.
Each time
I sought wise counsel.
First my wife.
Then trusted voices.
Each time it was scary.
But each time
there was peace.
This last step into full time entrepreneurship
was the scariest.
And the most peaceful in my spirit.
That is how I knew.
Not because I had certainty.
But because I had alignment.
I had more peace than I should have
if you just looked at the numbers.
That is what it looks like
to rest in your work.
Not passive.
Not lazy.
Not running scared.
Working hard
from trust
not fear.
This Week’s Challenge
Ask yourself this.
What is fueling my work right now?
Fear or Faith
And what would it look like
to work just as hard
but from peace
Spend time in God’s presence this week.
Let perfect love cast out fear.
Then show up
and give your best
from a place of trust.
Now let’s go win the week!
